Episode 58: Greatest Hit(man)s

Happy Tuesday fellow gamers. Things got a little busy so my gaming has slowed down but I have played a little Arkham Asylum (although I'm still stuck in the same spot) and restarted Darksiders on Easy because it's been kicking my ass and I really enjoy the game so I want to finish it instead of getting too frustrated and quitting again. Been itching to get back to work on Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft so that will have to happen soon.

Now, on to the new stuff: one new game, one new DLC, and a greatest hits!

Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear lands on Xbox360 and PC this week. It's a first person shooter (FPS) where you are a spy with stolen nuclear facility plans from the Iranians. 4 players can team up and vehicles include tanks and helicopters.

Revolution is the first of four DLC packs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and lands this week. It comes with 4 new multiplayer maps, a Zombies co-op map, a new Zombies mode, and a new weapon called the Peacemaker (an SMG/assault rifle hybrid).

Hitman Trilogy HD is a remastered collection coming to Xbox360 and PS3 this week. It includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, and Hitman: Blood Money. The original game and newest Hitman games aren't included.

And that about wraps it up for this week, new stuff to enjoy and an easy way to pick up a trio of classics. Until next time, get out there and get your game on!

Episode 57: Back To the Minors

Morning gamers. Luckily I've had plenty of free time lately so I've been able to keep my gaming pretty regular. I've been crackhead addicted to Arkham Asylum but hit a point where I'm having some trouble (one of the stealthy parts, I'm never good at stealth) so I haven't been playing quite as much but I refuse to give up so I'll get past it eventually. I've also restarted Darksiders which I played a few years back and lost track of at some point. My girlfriend also picked up a copy of The Testament of Sherlock Holmes the other day and has been really enjoying it thus far.

Now, on to the new stuff. No MAJOR releases this week but a pair of little guys you might want to check out.

The Cave is a downloadable game for Xbox360, PS3, Wii U, and PC coming out this week. In this one you explore a mysterious cave as a group of seven adventurers.

No Ni Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch lands on PS3 today. You play as a boy that ventures to a parallel universe to try and resurrect his mother in this Japanese RPG.

Before I go I want to thank Dr. Pepper for making the Geek Speak possible this week. Buy a 20 oz bottle, look under the cap, and enter your code at DrPepper.com to receive a $10 off value for select EA Sports titles!

And that about wraps it up for this week. Until next time, get out there and get your game on!

Episode 56: The Hunters

Now that all the holiday craziness has gone, my gaming schedule is filling back up. I've been crackhead addicted to Arkham Asylum ever since Xmas and damn what an amazing game. I'm over halfway through and can't wait to finish it up and move on to Arkham City. Also, my brother got me Cataclysm for Xmas so I got back on World of Warcraft and have created myself a Worgen to check out the new areas and such. Gonna take some time to get my main characters back to glory but that's half the fun.

Before we dive into the new stuff, I saw a story I had to share. A dad in China was fed up with his son's World of Warcraft addiction. The kid was 23 and couldn't keep a job due to his gaming. His dad hired VIRTUAL ASSASSINS to help. He paid them to kill his son's character whenever he signed on. The kid eventually got discouraged and asked the guys why they were after him so they told him his dad hired them. He confronted his dad and finally had a serious chat about his future. Might not be the final solution to the problem BUT it got the conversation started.

Now, on to some new games...

DMC (Devil May Cry) lands on Xbox360 and PS3 today. It's a reboot of the Devil May Cry series that features Dante, son of an angel and a demon, who fights evil using the powers of both sides.

Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt is your new DLC this week for Borderlands 2. This takes place after the main story as you join Hammerlock hunting new enemies and earning better guns.

Episode 55: Lucky 13

It's a week late but... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope everyone had a great, game-filled holiday. Up until Xmas I spent most of my game time pounding away at Diablo 3. Finally got my Witch Doctor to Hell difficulty which has been a ton of fun thus far.

For Xmas I picked up Batman: Arkham Asylum from my girlfriend and have been ADDICTED! The game plays like a combination puzzle solver, hand-to-hand fighter, and RPG all rolled into one great game. The sequel, Arkham City, is also great from what I hear but I figured it made more sense to play the original first.

Also for Xmas, my little brother got me World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and a 2 month game card. I haven't played WoW since just after the Cataclysm first happened so I never actually got to play the Goblin or Worgen races or check out the new areas they opened up. I know World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is also out there but my plan is to get to the level max on Cataclysm and play with the new races THEN I'll pick up Mists of Pandaria and make a Pandaren Monk and go from there.

Also in the past few weeks, I've discovered that Trade It (a chain of pawn shops) has some random "diamond in the rough" games from time to time. In the past 2 weeks I picked up Blue Dragon and Darksiders for less than $5 each! I know both are several years old but I played each briefly when they were new and never finished them so now I have them whenever I want to get around to wrapping them up.

Being right after the holidays, not really any new games rolling out at the moment BUT I found a really cool list at ArcadeSushi.com of the 25 Best NES Games and I pretty much agree with all of them:

1.)  "Super Mario Bros. 3"

2.)  "The Legend of Zelda"

And that wraps it up for this week. Until next time, get out there and get your game on!
